I know this map's been around for a while now, and to be honest I don't care. For those of you who are yet to give it a go, you shouldn't either, as by my standards it could have quite easily been packaged with UT2004 from the get go. EternalCaves was one of the more popular maps that shipped with the original Unreal Tournament, infact dare I say it was up there with Face.

Fordy's gone to great lengths to keep it as original as possible, the scalling's spot on, texture's remain true, but it has been given a complete overhaul in regards to the amount of detail on screen, take a look at the cave detail for instance. Fordy's use of emitters gave it that extra kick as well. I'd hate for you to judge this map on the amount of detail compared to some of the custom maps out there these days though, as from my standpoint that's not what it's about. This map was made to stay true to the original yet bring it up to the new engine standards, that's it. Don't expect laser shows or naked ladies asking for your number, I see too many remakes with these included in the final package and it drives me insane. I do however demand more Dragons!

This map deserves to be seen more IMHO and good thing you put it up.

As Desp#2 says, its a gorgeous map which deserves its Pwnage status!!

I still fail to see how this horribly unbalanced map is so popular. The blue flag barely requires defense at all, and the red flag is easy to take by comparison. Bases don't have to be identical to be fair, but in this case its not. It does, however have looks that far surpass the original.
