Well, it's taken a while but here we have our first Onslaught Map which struck a chord with me. Hourences was the man behind Torlan, the only map I enjoy whilst playing Onslaught and his latest effort released just days ago, Dinora, is up there as well.
The map takes place along an Irish influenced beach which got recently smashed by a rather large storm. To put it simply, it's rather unique and I'm in love with the sand/water textures. Powercores are located in churches up on cliffs, I reckon they could have looked a little more solid to be honest however. He's also covered up the PowerNodes with wooden planks, and I must say they work really well.
The map plays rather well, nothing like storming a tank along the waters edge taking out everything in the path to victory. I did however find it's a rather large pain in the rear getting the tanks up to the PowerCore's, simply because they're so slow and it's a rather large incline to the top. Most likely intentional, and I give him props for trying something new.
Still reading? Are you mad? Actually, don't answer that. |

Sweet! by |RIB|Jotun - 2004-09-14
I can't wait to get home from work to check this map out! I like the idea of hindering a Goliath's approach to the power core, makes for a tougher fight for the invding team, and can add to the battle by in some way evening things out. the screens look great, and I was told by another member of my clan that this ONS map is complete pwnage!

Too cool for oldskool!!! by DrDeath - 2004-09-20
Now that I have a properly working version, all I can say is that this map rocks.Although Sparky is right abt the tank thing, this revolutionises the way ONS is played.Hourences, this is WAY better than any of your oldskool maps...

Fog>normal by DrDeath - 2004-09-24
One gripe though-I played this with fog and found too much of it...many n00bs are gonna give up coz they'll never see anything right-even a Raptor isn't proof against this visiblity issue. However, this again redefines ONS, so I guess its OK.

Beautiful by FoolishOwl - 2004-10-10
I thought this map was quite beautiful and distinct, and full of atmosphere. It's also quite playable: there's room to actually fight it out, and each node is it's own battlefield, that can be attacked or defended.

Static Sky... by Deathbliss - 2004-10-16
I'm going to start cracking down on every mapper that does this. Hournces really drew me into this level until I looked up. Static skies are EXTREMELY inexcuseable in UT 2003-2004! Other than that this is an excellent map with awe inspiring terrain work.
